BGS Supports Achieve Services
April 21, 2025 | Barna, Guzy & Steffen, Ltd.One of the core principles in the BGS Mission statement is to give back to the community we serve. BGS has been involved Achieve Services for several years and recently attended their annual fundraising event. Attorneys Bill Huefner, Kate Fredrickson and Tammy Schemmel represented the firm for the gala on April 10th, 2025. The funds raised at the event support Achieve Services in providing day programming and employment opportunities for adults with disabilities. Achieve also offers services which include community-based employment, on-site employment, volunteer activities, arts and social skills programming, and recreational opportunities.

Elder Law is a broad practice area with numerous pathways to practice. The MSBA Elder Law Section is hosting a virtual panel on Wednesday, March 19, 2025, open to law students, new lawyers, and practicing attorneys who are interested in an elder law practice. We will have attorneys from different stages in their careers who handle various aspects of elder law who will share their journey into the practice. The panelists will share insight on things they wish they knew at the onset of their career in elder law and how they have developed their practice. Attorneys Scott Lepak and Bill Huefner spent the morning of Saturday, August 24th bass fishing on the Mississippi River near Royalton Minnesota with their trusty guide Tommy Steffen from Steffen’s Rum River Guide Service. The fishing was great with 43 smallmouth bass landed in 4 hours. Highlights of the trip included Bill and Scott landing a bass at the exact same time (noted in the picture). Bill was the largest fish winner this year. Scott was lucky enough to catch smallmouth #10, 20 and 30. Even with all the rain and high-water levels throughout the first part of summer, the river is now down enough to find the fish.
