Shareholders at Barna, Guzy & Steffen Hold Annual Meeting and Elections
March 28, 2017 | Barna, Guzy & Steffen, Ltd.The law firm of Barna, Guzy & Steffen, Ltd. held its annual meeting March 25, 2017 at Bunker Hills Golf Club in Coon Rapids. The meeting included a gathering of the Board of Directors, a State of the Firm given by William F. Huefner, reports from the Practice Group Managers and elections. The Board of Directors re-elected William F. Huefner as Firm President and Chairman of the Board; Charles M. Seykora was re-elected as Treasurer, and Bradley A. Kletscher was re-elected as Secretary. Adriel B. Villarreal and Tammy J. Schemmel were re-elected for three year terms on the Board of Directors. Re-appointed as Practice Group Managers were Michael F. Hurley (Real Estate/Corporate) and Joan M. Quade (Litigation/Municipal); Adriel B. Villarreal was named Practice Group Manager (Consumer) for his first term. The firm looks forward to a very successful year as it plans to continue efforts to grow and serve the community it has served since 1938. Forius is a proud affiliate of the National Association of Credit Management, and is dedicated to serving the needs of commercial credit professionals. When asked about Carole’s presentations for Forius, President and COO Toni Nuernberg said, “Carole always brings a wealth of information to our members. After her most recent presentation, I asked members for feedback. They said Carole provides relevant information that is easy to understand and somehow manages to make what could be a “boring topic” come to life. Our members love her!” It was not a long seminar but Carole managed to cover all of the questions submitted prior, and to provide helpful and practical direction to the participants on handling bankruptcy cases. What to do, when, why and how were covered with humor, and rapidly! Audience members shared stories of involvement in cases, and Carole’s commentary offered additional insight into the good, the bad, and the ugly of the bankruptcy process. BGS attorney Carole Isakson recently attended an event hosted by the CMBC, featuring an intelligent and insightful presentation by global investment research firm TIS Group Inc. CMBC works closely with the office of the Consulate General of Canada in Minnesota, and at the event Ms. Isakson was pleased to meet and converse with Canadian Consul General Khawar Nasim. The Minneapolis office of the Consul General covers Minnesota, Iowa, Nebraska, North Dakota and South Dakota. According to the CMBC, trade between Minnesota and Canada now exceeds $20 billion dollars annually, with Canada representing Minnesota’s largest trading partner in the world. The CMBC’s ongoing mandate is support for education, policy advocacy, and business networking within the growing community of private and public stakeholders involved in this critical business partnership.
