Barna, Guzy & Steffen and the Minnesota Trucking Association’s Annual Conference

As it does each August, BGS sent members of its Transportation Department to attend the Minnesota Trucking Association’s Annual Conference.  Carole Clark Isakson, Jim Wills and Rachel Schwankl connected with trucking company owners and vendors from throughout the state of Minnesota and attended educational programs covering topics from business succession to driver retention.   BGS also sponsored Stephen Shapiro, the conference keynote speaker, who spoke about innovative problem solving. The three-day event is well attended and enjoyed by all.   With more than four decades of experience representing nationwide motor carriers, Jim is both well respected and well known in this unique area of law. Having worked together for more than twenty years, Jim and Carole have worked with trucking companies, shippers, brokers, freight forwarders, and those who rely on transportation services. Carole Clark Isakson is also the President of the Minnesota Trucking Association Foundation.

Fishing Break

Scott Lepak’s mother regularly viewed approaching rainstorms as opportunities to do a little quick fishing before the storm hit because, according to her, that was when the fish were really biting.  In a continued shout out to mothers who love to fish and are enthusiastic pressure system weather prognosticators, Bill Huefner and Scott Lepak hit the Mississippi River Sunday afternoon, August 13th, with a huge rain system headed their way.  Led by trusty fishing guide Tommy Steffen, Bill and Scott got in on a hot bite for smallmouth bass.  While Scott got the coveted first fish award, Bill came on strong with the biggest and last fish.  After catching and releasing 41 smallmouth in 4 hours, Scott and Bill are planning their next fishing adventure for September.
