In Case of a Car Accident

At the Scene:

  • Remain calm and call the police
  • Tell the police officer if you, or anyone involved in the accident is injured
  • Do not admit fault to anyone at the scene
  • Sometimes police cannot make it to an accident.  Try to obtain witness information and license plate numbers if you can.

After the Collision:

  • Contact your insurance company
  • You are not required to make a statement to the other driver’s insurance representative
  • Go to the doctor if you are having any symptoms
  • Write down the details of the accident while they are fresh in your memory
  • Seek legal advice if any questions arise: Insurance companies will be contacting you, it is important to know your rights
  • Take photographs of the accident scene or cars if possible

Try to Obtain the Following From the Other Driver:

  • Name
  • Address
  • Driver’s License Number
  • Vehicle Registration Number
  • Insurance Company
  • Policy Number

Provide the Above to the Other Driver as Well
